Little Free Library Launch at Jack's in Laurel
JACK’S PARTNERS WITH LAUREL SCHOOL DISTRICT’S GOLDEN PAGES TO HOST LITTLE FREE LIBRARY
Family-focused Initiative Promotes Literacy and Offers Free Books to Children in Laurel Visiting Jack’s
Jack’s Family Restaurants (Jack’s), announces its partnership with Laurel School District’s Golden Pages: Laurel’s Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (Golden Pages) to promote literacy and foster a love of reading within the community. As part of this collaboration, Jack’s will be the first local business to host the Golden Pages Little Free Library, a new initiative designed to make books accessible for families. Guests can visit Jack’s in Laurel to pick up a free book (while supplies last) and join in this effort to inspire young readers and nurture a love of reading across Laurel.
To celebrate the launch of the Little Free Library Charter #195470, Jack’s, located at 841 Adams St., will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 3 at 10:30 a.m., with Laurel School District Superintendent Dr. Michael Eubanks in attendance. The Little Free Library will be located next to Jack’s fireplace, offering families a chance to enjoy a warm meal while selecting a book for their children in a welcoming, cozy atmosphere.
Golden Pages, supported by a coalition of community leaders, families and district staff, is dedicated to introducing creative ways to bring families closer to reading. One such initiative is the traveling Little Free Library, which debuted at the United Way of the Pine Belt Region’s 4th Annual Prancer Path, where over 600 books were distributed to local children.
Building on this success, the Golden Pages coalition launched a plan to partner with local businesses, ensuring the library continues its journey across Laurel and brings the joy of reading directly to families. Jack’s, known for its ongoing commitment to supporting families and the community, was a natural fit as the first host for the Little Free Library, furthering its role as a gathering place where families can connect and thrive.
